What We Believe

Be happy with those who are happy, and cry with those who are crying. Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don’t think that you’re so smart.
— Romans 12:15-16

We lament continued discrimination and exclusion of LGBTQIA+ people from the full life of our church.

We know that the first of John Wesley’s General Rules is to do no harm, and the the United Methodist Church is currently inflicting great harm on LGBTQIA+ people and their allies.

This is my commandment: love each other just as I have loved you.
— John 15:12

We commit to working toward a changed church that fully reflects God’s love and longing for all people.

We desire a church which invites more people into the fullness of life in the Body of Christ, so that they may grow as disciples who participate in God’s transformation of the world.

The whole body grows from Him, as it is joined and held together by all the supporting ligaments. The body makes itself grow in that it builds itself up with love as each one does its part.
— Ephesians 4:16

We believe in growing this resource to provide an opportunity for all people to have access to the ways they might engage in the process at all levels.
